The conference, organized by the Veolia Centre of Excellence in Waste to Energy, took place on 22nd March

On Wednesday 22nd March, Mataró brought together experts in the field of waste to energy from all over the world, on the occasion of the conference organised by theVeolia Centre of Excellence in Waste Energy, one of the partners of UTE TEM, concessionary company for the Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment ofMaresme (CTRSU). At this meeting the latest technical information and operational results in the field of waste to energy was shared by 18 experts from Veolia based in France, Spain, Portugal, The UnitedKingdom, China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, as well as from Veolia’s Investigation and Innovation Centre.

The objective of the conference was to pool knowledge of the topical issues of this kind of treatment, and of best practices in the management and optimization of the installations. Subjects as diverse as intelligent incineration, the continuous calibration of mercury and operator priority were discussed, as well as relevant aspects from each represented country.

At the end of the conference, the participants visited the Consortium’s Centre for Complete Waste Recovery, where together thereis a pre-treatment, biological stabilization and methanisation unit, as well as an energy recovery unit.
