A workshop entitled “The sustainable city” was given at the Centre, and a group of young inmates aged 18-24 will visit the plant

The Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment is collaborating with the Youth Detention Centre in la Roca del Vallès, offering workshops on sustainability at the Centre, as well as receiving visits from inmates to the Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery within the framework of their rehabilitation process. To this effect, on Wednesday 7th March, an educator from the Consortium’s environmental education programme gave the workshop “The Sustainable City” at the Centre in la Roca del Vallès, and the following week the Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery will receive a visit from six inmates, accompanied by a psychologist and an educator.

The Youth Detention Centre in la Roca del Vallès, which is run by the Justice Department at the Catalan Generalitat, organises different educational and leisure programmes for its inmate community. The Centre has an Environmental Committee which tries to improve the sustainability of the Centre, and for this reason it was considered appropriate, both from an educational and rehabilitative point of view, to establish this collaboration framework with the Consortium.

The group of young inmates who will visit the installations of the Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment, regularly have cultural, sporting or educational outings, organised to strengthen their rehabilitation process.
