Recuwatt devotes one day to public administrations and municipal waste

Seeking answers to the challenges of integrated waste management

The 26th of October, from 3.30pm onwards, is wholly dedicated to public administrations and to municipal waste, with three blocks which will be presented and moderated by the lawyer Lluis Recoder, ex mayor of Sant Cugat and ex counsellor of Territorial Policy in the Catalan Generalitat.
The day is directed towards the politicians responsible for these areas, specialists in autonomous and local Spanish administrations, and managers of public services.  The objective is to concentrate on and debate important aspects such as the application of new fiscal tools on infrastructure management that will allow us to reach the objectives for 2020.
Experiences such as those in Catalonia or the Basque country will be presented and debated, examining their most relevant aspects in the face of the new challenges that the EU has set in the context of development towards a model of circular economy.

Programme:
BLOCK I: COLLECTION MODELS
I- Organic collection. II- Door to door collection and pay-as-you-throw schemes III- Commercial collection and large generators.

Speakers: Carlos Vázquez, Head of the Department of Waste Management at Barcelona Town Hall; ​​Xavier Doñate, President of the Association of Catalan Municipalities for door to door collection; Ricardo Luís Izquierdo Escribano, Technical Director of Environmental Services at Fuenlabrada Town Hall.

BLOCK II: TAXES AND POLICIES OF WASTE PREVENTION AND REDUCTION
IV- Public policies of waste prevention. V- Contribution of mechanical – biological treatment in waste management. VI- Taxes.
Moderator / Presenter: Lluís Recoder. Speakers: Joseba Sánchez Rodriguez, Vitoria-Gasteiz Town Hall, Joan Miquel Trullols, Director of Prevention and Waste Management Services in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona. Francesc Giró Fontanals, Director of Strategic Planning at the Catalonia Waste Agency.

BLOCK III: PUBLIC – PRIVATE COLLABORATION

Round Table: The experiences and challenges of management analysed by the companies that provide waste management services.
Moderator / Presenter, Lluís Recoder. Speakers: Rafael Arjona Jiménez, President of ANEMPA – National Association of Public Environmental Companies; Martí Juanola Carcel, Director of the FCC delegation; Jordi Serra Rovira, Veolia; Pablo Pérez, Valoriza Environmental Services.
