The first tender to build the new Maresme Circular park is announced

by MaresmeCircular in Consortium, Uncategorized

The first phase of the Park will include the creation of the REFER Zone, with areas and projects related to the circular economy open to the public

The Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment has opened the first public tender related to the future Maresme Circular Park, which will be located in the Mata-Rocafonda Industrial Estate in Mataró. Specifically, the competition for projects related to the elaboration of the project and subsequent management during the construction of the first phase of the park has been announced. The estimated value of the contract is €190,000 (before tax).

The aim of this tender is the completion of the first buildings in the plot, intended for circular economy activities. Specifically, the construction of the REFER Zone, which will have general zones, spaces for receiving advice, areas for workshops and presentations, as well as a bulky waste treatment area, public allotments, and the exterior access and parking areas. The REFER Zone is the most emblematic project in this first phase of construction, and will include a self-repair service, an area for the exchange and sale of second-hand products, and advice and activities for the public focused on learning to repair and reuse objects and materials which otherwise would become waste. In the realisation of this project, the aim is to actively promote the social integration of disadvantaged groups. The project is inspired by the programme “Repaired, better than new” developed by the Barcelona Metropolitan Area.

It is also the first tender to give such a high priority to the awarding criteria related to the application of the circular economy to construction, as well as sustainable construction. The contract specifications prioritize the generation of a BIM model (building information modelling, whereby a digital representation of the buildings is produced to show the complete process of construction, maintenance, and even the demolition and recycling of materials). The technical requirements also stress the use of specific materials and sustainable construction standards, as well as other circular strategies to be implemented, related to health and well-being and added cultural and social value.

Bids can be presented until the 11th March 2019.
