The fifth edition of this award, organised by the Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment, received the highest number of entries so far

On the 29th October, the President of the Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment, and Mayor of Mataró, David Bote, awarded the prizes to the winners of the 5th competition for objects made with recycled material from the Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery. The winning schools were the 6th year of the Rocafonda School (Primary Education), which entered pet toys made from recycled containers, and the 1st year of ESO at the Institut María de Bell-Lloc de Bigues i Riells (Secondary Education and above), with an entry based on kitchen utensils made from recycled materials.

This year, the competition for objects made from recycled material has beaten the record for entries received, with a total of 16 from schools and colleges in the Maresme and the Vallès Oriental, compared to last year’s 12 entries. For this year 2019-2020, the objective is again to have a record number of entries and increase the participation of schools and colleges.

In the awards ceremony, held in the auditorium at the  Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery, David Bote gave the students from the winning schools a cheque for €750 €, to be used by each school to invest in educational material.
