No injuries or material damage to report<\/h3>\n

FRIDAY 29th July 2016\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

At around 7pm the fire, which had started at 4.30pm in the refuse waste pit at the Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment of Maresme plant, was extinguished and under control.
The fire broke out just as a lorry from a private company was dumping vegetation waste \u2013 seconds later, the workers detected the first signs of smoke inside the refuse waste pit.
The safety protocol was immediately activated and the fire brigade called, and in less than 10 minutes the first teams had arrived at the scene to begin the extinction tasks.
There were no injuries or cases of smoke inhalation to report due to the rapid reaction of the workers and adherence to the plant\u2019s safety protocols.
There is also no significant material damage at the plant\u2019s installations, and in the next few hours work will be able to continue as normal.
The exact causes of the fire cannot be determined as yet, according to Pep Col\u00e1s, fire chief of the North Region of Barcelona, <\/span>\u200b\u200b<\/span>who coordinated the operation and extinction of the fire.<\/span>
It has been decided that tonight, three teams of firemen will stand watch at the Consortium Plant, as a preventive measure, to be able to act quickly in the hypothetical case that the fire restarts in the refuse waste pit.<\/span>
The CTRSU would like to emphasise the speed with which the plant workers reacted and the way in which the extinction tasks were carried out by the thirteen teams of firemen, from the stations at Matar\u00f3, Tordera and Castellar del Vall\u00e9s.
