Santiago Flores Giménez, worker at UTE TEM of the Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment of Maresme (CTRSU), with an idea to improve the conditions at the ash extraction workstation, and his fellow worker Sergio Morgado García, with a proposal to install an emergency stop device in the bulky waste area, are the winners of the second competition for ideas to improve safety, organised by UTE TEM within the framework of the acts and activities of the Health and Safety at Work week. During the prize-giving ceremony, highlights of all the activities carried out throughout the week were shown on a projector. Examples are: an evacuation drill in a situation with no visibility, led by the UTE TEM Safety Department; a laughter therapy and stress management workshop; a teamwork workshop entitled ‘trust and cohesion’ run by La Bona Educació; workshops to promote physical activity to prevent musculoskeletal disorders, run by Asepeyo Mutual Insurance Company for Occupational Accidents; and preventive resources training sessions, run by the external prevention service, ASPY Prevention. Following the good results obtained as a result of the first Health and Safety Week in 2016, with a reduction in workplace accidents and the award by ASEPEYO of the prize for best preventive practices, this second edition has aimed to consolidate the raising of awareness to bring about behavioural change in prevention habits. At the prize-giving ceremony, held on the 28th April, the Chief Administrative Officer, Regina Gràcia, awarded the prizes to the UTE TEM workers, in the name of the Consortium President. All the participants in the competition were presented with a rucksack and a safety vest, and the winners received a balloon trip for two people.
