Under the slogan \u201c<strong>Waste, circular economy and energy transition: trilemma or virtuous circle?<\/strong>\u201d, the conference brought together several presentations and transformative projects that served to reaffirm the strategic role of biocircularity in the transformation of the production model, which is heading towards a necessary paradigm shift.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10819\" style=\"width: 1034px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10819\" class=\"wp-image-10819 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" srcset=\"https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-scaled.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/maresmecircular.cat\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1747737205726-680x453.jpg 680w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-10819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Vanessa Abad during the presentation of the BIOFORIN project at the 8th edition of Recuwaste \/ Marga Cruz<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In this regard, the programme included the presentation \u201c<strong>Contribution of biocircularity to the objectives of energy transition, decarbonisation and industrial competitiveness<\/strong>\u201d by the president of the Bioenergy Cluster of Catalonia, <strong>Vanessa Abad<\/strong>, who explored the role of bioenergy as a key vector for achieving the objectives of the <strong>energy transition<\/strong>. Abad explained how the bioeconomy can contribute to <strong>decarbonisation<\/strong>, <strong>efficient management of natural resources<\/strong> and <strong>energy sovereignty<\/strong>, with solutions adapted to the territory and the productive environment.<\/p>\n<p>In this context, Abad presented the BIOFORIN project, which brings together the entire <strong>forest management value chain<\/strong> with the aim of improving the recovery of available biomass and generating products with high added value. BIOFORIN, which has the collaboration of six entities \u2013 the <strong>Bioenergy Cluster of Catalonia<\/strong>, the <strong>Eurecat Technology Centre<\/strong>, the <strong>Catalan Federation of Forest Owners&#8217; Associations<\/strong> (BOSCAT), the <strong>Association of Owners of Montnegre and Corredor<\/strong>, the <strong>Vall\u00e8s Oriental Waste Consortium<\/strong> and, finally, <strong>Maresme Circular<\/strong>, the brand of the <strong>Maresme Waste Consortium<\/strong> \u2013 represents a pioneering model of sustainable forest management, capable of <strong>reducing the risk of fires<\/strong>, protecting biodiversity and generating economic and energy value at the local level. Among the stand-out finalist projects were \u201cUrbaneta\u201d, a project by Espigoladors that promotes the use of urban fruit considered waste to transform it into food for social entities; \u201cLife Infusion\u201d, led by the AMB (Barcelona Metropolitan Area), which applies circular economy technologies to recover biogas, nutrients and reclaimed water from urban waste effluents; &#8216;Green Banana&#8217;, an innovative proposal to reuse banana cultivation waste in the Canary Islands and transform it into renewable resources; and finally, the project voted for by the attendees, \u201c<strong>Santa Rosa Urban Oranges<\/strong>\u201d, by the Mollet del Vall\u00e8s City Council, which <strong>recovers bitter oranges from public trees<\/strong> to make marmalade for food banks.<\/p>\n<p>With these initiatives, Recuwaste reaffirms its commitment to a more circular, <strong>decentralised economy rooted in the territory<\/strong>, where the <strong>bioeconomy<\/strong> is consolidating its position as one of the main avenues of transformation towards a sustainable future.<\/p>\n<p>Recuwaste is organised by Maresme Circular, the brand of the Maresme Waste Consortium, and is supported by the Catalan Waste Agency and the collaboration of the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Catalan Government and other entities such as the
