A – ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDING [/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column] The Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery has a recently-opened interactive Environmental Classroom aimed both at school children and students as well as adults and families. During the visit there is also an explanatory guided tour of the whole centre and visit the Green Sphere where you can enjoy an immersive experience with Virtual Reality glasses: “Maresme Circular Immersive Experience”. With virtual reality glasses and through a series of virtual flights that generate a highly immersive 3D sensation, the user can fly over the Maresme Integrated Waste Recovery Centre and enjoy panoramic views of Mataró and a large part of the region, travel into space and land in a sustainable and self-sufficient city of the future. All this in about 25 minutes and with the help of a drone that, in addition to guiding visitors, will teach them concepts such as the circular economy and downcycling.[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”3407″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”3410″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”3413″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”3416″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner] Schools have the opportunity to visit the Maresme Integral Centre for Waste Recovery, where the county’s municipal waste is treated, and they can also take part in an educational workshop at their school as a preliminary activity.

The visit to the Centre’s facilities is accompanied by monitors and can be made every working day, from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. Three tours are available: the whole Centre (duration 2h 30 min), the REMAINDER Treatment Plant (duration 2h) and the Energy Recovery Plant (duration 1h 30 min).

The visit begins with an introduction and video presentation of the Maresme Consortium for Municipal Solid Waste Treatment. Then, in subgroups of a maximum of 15 students, the tour begins, accompanied by a monitor who explains the facilities and serves as a guide for the different educational activities that are carried out along the tour: environmental classroom, “Maresme Circular Immersive Experience” with Virtual Reality glasses.

A group of a maximum of 45 pupils (divided into 3 subgroups) can take part in the visit at the same time and, if necessary, another group, also with a maximum of 45 pupils, can enter half an hour later.

With regard to didactic workshops, there are four types of workshop depending on the age of the pupils:

Schools can choose to only visit the facilities, or do the didactic workshop one day and the visit another. In this case, we recommend doing the workshop first and then the visit, but this is optional.

There is also the possibility of taking a virtual tour of the Centre, the new on-line activity developed as a result of the extraordinary security measures that have had to be taken due to COVID19. The activity is aimed at primary school students as well as ESO and baccalaureate students.

In addition, as a complement to the virtual visit, and from 2nd cycle of Secondary Education onwards, we offer the possibility of a subsequent virtual meeting with an expert from the Consortium in order to resolve any doubts and questions that may arise after the session.

There are three types of virtual visit:

All the activities are free of charge and in order to make a reservation, an application form must be filled in.

Summary of possible activities for schools:

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/2″] We have three workshops to be given in schools, as a preparation activity before the visit to the Centre:

1) Twinkle and Waste

A workshop aimed at children at the end of primary and the beginning of secondary school.
